In this world, beings that have very sub-par ability stats never make it to adulthood… Those that have sub-par stats become grunt labourers and unskilled workers. If you are lucky enough to be average, you gain a skill with a hammer or a saw, and become a craftsman. Above average people excel at their crafts and trades and become town council members and elders of their communities. It is not until you get to be very above average that the thought of something better crosses the mind of anyone. Thus: To be a hero, one must show above average ability.
Of course, what’s good for the goose is also good for the DM and his named NPCs…
Players have these as base ability scores: 18, 16, 16, 14, 14, 12.
All points can be mobile.
Basically, players have 90 ability points to distribute in any way they see best fit, with no one base score exceeding 18.
Any racial modifiers are to be added AFTER you adjust the ability scores as described above.
